PointsBet Virginia is now ready to make its mark in the VA sports betting market following its collaboration with the Colonial Downs Group.

On Tuesday, officials made a public announcement regarding the exclusive partnership agreement and the joint application for licensure.

On November 22, 2021, Colonial Downs Group, LLC was granted a temporary sports betting permit by the Virginia Lottery. Additionally, PointsBet USA, Inc. obtained a temporary supplier license on the same day.

Naturally, these advancements raise a straightforward query: When is PointsBet planning to launch in Virginia?

No immediate details on PointsBet Virginia launch

Johnny Aitken, the CEO of PointsBet USA, made an announcement emphasizing the partnership and licensure, assuring a top-notch sportsbook experience.

He further proposed that PB Virginia commercials may soon flood your television screens, similar to other Virginia sportsbooks. This is a direct result of PointsBet’s media collaboration with NBC Sports, as he pointed out.

Receiving the chance to provide the people of Virginia with PointsBet’s top-notch speed and user-friendly platform, extensive range of betting choices, and exceptional in-play experience is a significant accomplishment and duty. PointsBet is delighted to collaborate with the Lottery in Virginia, alongside Colonial Downs, for our inaugural market license award under the lottery’s regulations. We are extremely excited to continue our exclusive partnership with NBC Sports, a beloved source of sports entertainment in Virginia, and ultimately deliver the long-awaited sportsbook experience to the wonderful people of the state.

Although PointsBet officials have made significant promises, they have chosen to stay silent regarding a potential launch date in Virginia. However, it is highly probable that they aim to commence accepting wagers before the NFL Playoffs in early January and the Super Bowl in February.

Nevertheless, once it is launched, it will face tough competition in the market. Presently, Virginia boasts nine sportsbook operators, and there are even more on the horizon.

About PointsBet and Colonial Downs

PointsBet, an Australian company with operations in the US and Europe, is currently providing services in several states, namely Colorado, New Jersey, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, and West Virginia. These states boast some of the largest sports-betting markets in the country, with New Jersey leading the way.

PointsBet will leverage its partnership with NBC Sports to utilize some of those resources for advertising purposes. As per the announcement, this will involve exclusive integration of multi-platform game-day promotions across NBC Sports Washington, the regional broadcasting network for the Washington Wizards and Washington Capitals.

Furthermore, PointsBet is expected to receive support from Colonial Downs Group, a company based in Virginia. Colonial Downs Group is the owner of the Colonial Downs racetrack and also manages Rosie’s Gaming Emporiums. These establishments, which offer historical horse racing (HHR) gaming parlors and racebooks, can be found in Richmond, Hampton, New Kent, Vinton, and Dumfries.

Colonial Downs Group Chief Operating Officer Aaron Gomes expressed his pride in teaming up with PointsBet, a leading sports betting platform and highly accomplished operator nationwide. Gomes emphasized the pleasure of introducing this esteemed gaming option, which boasts an outstanding reputation for customer service and distinctive features like their innovative ‘PointsBetting’ platform, to their devoted customers and fellow gamers in Virginia.
