Unibet Virginia’s Debut Marks 7th Operational Sportsbook In VA
Just a week after receiving its sports betting permit, Unibet Virginia is now operational as the seventh sportsbook live in the commonwealth.
The Virginia Lottery issued a temporary permit to Unibet Interactive, Inc. on April 21. Then, on Wednesday, Virginia sports bettors could begin wagering at the sportsbook.
Old Dominion now has 10 licensed Virginia sportsbooks. Unibet joins industry veterans such as FanDuel, DraftKings and BetMGM in VA.
However, can Unibet be competitive in a market dominated by two of those rivals? Well, it’s certainly coming out strong with a competitive offer for new customers.
Unibet Virginia looks to woo new players
The VA Lottery recently provided an update on the first two-plus months of sports betting in Virginia. The commonwealth’s first operator, FanDuel, was online on Jan. 21. Additional sportsbooks joined the fray in the following days and weeks.
Since that market launch, FanDuel has leapt into a dominating lead. In fact, the sportsbook, which has a partnership with the Virginia-based Washington Football Team, handled 53% of the $628.7 million that Virginia bettors wagered through March 31.

Can Unibet cut into that lead? In an effort to do so, the company has an attractive sign-up offer.
New players can receive $100 in free bets (five $20 bets) even without a deposit. Then, if you do make a deposit, Unibet will make your first cash bet a risk-free wager, with a minimum of $10 and a maximum of $1,000. If you lose that bet, you’ll receive a refund in bonus money equal to the amount of your losing wager.
Unibet customers will also receive $25 as a refer-a-friend bonus and additional opt-in bonuses are offered regularly.
First impressions of Unibet
Unibet offers all of the most popular betting markets and wagering types. On Wednesday alone, you could bet on the day’s MLB, NBA, NHL, soccer and tennis slates. You could also place an early wager on this weekend’s NASCAR, UFC, Formula 1, PGA Tour and other events.
In fact, even before noon, Unibet had 39 live betting events available, mostly with overseas sports leagues. Additionally, those live wagering offerings will expand with a new bet-overlay live streaming player. Initially, though, that technology will be geared toward European sports events.
The desktop version of Unibet Virginia was accessible upon launch. Ultimately, a Unibet Virginia app will be available for both Apple and Android devices.
