Rivers Casino Portsmouth hosting job fair

In preparation for its anticipated early 2024 opening, Rivers Casino Portsmouth is currently organizing job fairs to successfully recruit and cater to both bettors and visitors by fully staffing its establishment.

Contrary to other Virginia casinos, the construction timeline of this casino hasn’t been affected by any supply chain problems.

In December, construction of Rivers Casino Portsmouth commenced after crews had prepared the site. The final steel beam was raised by workers in late June. However, developers have yet to determine an exact date for the grand opening.

The current priority for the casino operators is recruitment. Over the weekend, they will be holding meetings with prospective employees specifically for the hospitality division of the casino.

Currently, Rivers Casino has planned to employ 1,300 workers, which undoubtedly holds the potential to greatly stimulate the local economy.

What will Rivers Casino Portsmouth offer visitors?

The casino project in the southeast Virginia city will receive a $300 million investment from Rivers. Its prime location will be at the intersection of Victory Boulevard and Freedom Avenue.

The projected annual tax revenue for Rivers is estimated to reach $16 million. While there is a possibility of plans being altered in the future, the current project incorporates the following aspects:

  • BetRivers Sportsbook
  • Board games and slot machines
  • Full-service hotel
  • Live event center
  • Conference and meeting space
  • Restaurants and bars

The Rivers Casino project has taken the lead as crews started clearing the land for construction an entire year ago. Even while operators were in the process of applying for a license from the Virginia Lottery, the dirt work continued. Additionally, three other cities in Virginia have also made plans for constructing casinos.
