Next week, individuals looking for employment opportunities at the anticipated Danville casino are cordially invited to attend a virtual employment webinar.

The online job fair has been scheduled by Caesars Entertainment officials for October 6th.

The event is organized jointly by Averett University and Danville Community College.

The session, lasting for 60 minutes, commences at 5:30 p.m.

The availability of potential jobs at the Danville casino is contingent upon the results of the Election Day on November 3rd. The residents of Danville will have the chance to vote in a referendum that could lead to the establishment of a new $400 million casino-resort called “Caesars Virginia in Danville” in their city.

Caesars has announced that the hiring plan for the Danville casino will encompass 900 construction jobs throughout the resort’s development phase.

The company anticipates hiring 1,300 full-time employees for the planned casino opening in 2024. These positions will cover a wide range of areas including gaming, marketing, finance, facilities, food and beverage, security and surveillance, and more. Moreover, the company intends to offer comprehensive benefits and competitive salaries ranging from $35,000 to $47,000 for these roles.

A boom to the Danville economy?

The promotion campaign for the new Danville casino heavily emphasizes the commitment made by casino supporters to generate job opportunities in the area.

Earlier this year, the Virginia General Assembly passed a law legalizing casino gambling and designated five cities in VA as potential locations for casinos. Among these cities are Danville, Bristol, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Richmond.

The selection of cities for the casino was determined by the assembly, taking into account their challenges with tax revenue, unemployment, poverty, and declining population. The Danville casino will be located at the Dan River Mills industrial complex in Schoolfield.

Officials anticipate that the Caesars Virginia in Danville project will generate $35 million in upfront payments if approved by voters.

By its third year, the casino is anticipated to generate an annual tax revenue of $20 million, according to officials.
